Welcome back to Awakened Exchanges! I’m your host Jay Rich and this is our third holiday episode of 2020! This whole month I’m focusing on fun things that bring me, and hopefully you, joy. Our first episode was with Nick Hinton and our conspiratorial talk, and the second with Andrew Wiggins and his poker and fantasy sports uprises. I’ve had a couple of cancellations and postponements this month, so I decided to take a step back and look at something that has brought me joy and inspiration for a long time now, cannabis. I want to thank Chris for stepping up this week and talking to me about our shared passion for this amazing plant. I had a blast and I hope you do too. More on our conversation in a bit.
First, I want to thank everyone who is listening now or who has listened to an episode. It’s been an incredible experience this far. While the response has been overwhelmingly positive, it’s not generating revenue just yet and I’ve still got bills to pay. I’m not sure what the timing is going to be like on these next few episodes, but we may be dark for Christmas Eve at this point. I’m still trying to work on a special episode for New Year’s Eve, but just getting an episode posted may be the “special” part of it. I definitely appreciate all of you listeners out there bearing with any of these early bumps. I’ll keep doing my best to bring you new episodes each week. If you have suggestions for topics or guests, please email me from our website or contact me on twitter @AwakenExchanges. I hope to have a full, diverse, and interesting schedule for 2021, so I hope you join us here every week.
Another person I want to thank is this week’s guest Chris Mumey. I’ve known Chris for nearly a decade now and his passion for cannabis might be second to none. Despite my large number of contacts in the industry, I’ve never seen someone with such a wide variety of knowledge and interest in this plant. He may have even smoked more cannabis than I have, he definitely has a more refined cannabis palate, and he follows as many of the growing and extracting technologies as he can. I used to think I had a fairly rounded out cannabis knowledge base, and then I had an in-depth conversation with Chris and realized how much I wasn’t following nowadays. He’s currently employed as an extractor at one of the biggest extraction companies in Portland. He also is one of the most talented photographers that I know, especially when it comes to cannabis pictures. You can find him @pnw_flower_power on Instagram if you want to explore more.
